Lilli Cowley-Wood - About me

I graduated in 2009 from Central Saint Martins with a first class hons degree in textile design (specialising in print making).

Since then, I've worked at a creative studio printing a range of products from clothing and skateboards to artist prints and interior textiles, while also pursuing my own personal projects.

I work on a purely freelance basis, taking on varying illustration, print and design projects and commissions. I really enjoy creating personal and bespoke artwork, specific to each person, client or workshop.

My work is largely inspired by nature. Being brought up around many domestic and wild animals, rescued and fostered, they have become the main features of my work and everyday inspiration. I have worked closely with ethical taxidermist Jazmine Miles- Long, who allows me to draw and study her animals, so I can capture their details and unusual positions and characteristics. Both being avid animals lovers, all of the animals used have died from natural causes.

I also run art, craft, printing, customising and creative workshops for private parties and commercial companies. Teaching children and adults of all ages and abilities how to use their hands and be creative is a huge focus of my work. Myself and fellow artist Liz Jeal set up print and make workshops in 2014.

I often use a mixture of pencil drawings, printmaking techniques, collage, mixed media and painting. I use surfaces from paper and wood to ceramics and fabric. I love pattern, colour, texture and detail.
